The beginning April 2009

>

Dear Friends and Family,

My 2009 goal is to be productive to help the environment. As many of you already know, I try to recycle as much as I can. I am always trying to determine, where to take my recyclables; even if it means that I may have to drive a bit out of my way to recycle cardboard and chipboard. The thought of throwing it in the trash is unbearable.

On Oprah, she discussed Earth Day. In the report, it was stated that 70% of the landfill is toxic waste; ie: electronics. This waste is loaded will mercury and lead. This absorbs into the earth and then becomes part of the food supply. I urge you to think 2x even 3x before throwing that dead battery in the trash or that burn-out computer, keyboard, television, etc. Find a way to recycle in your community or visit to get http://www.freecycle.org/ or http://earth911.com/ for more information about your area.

One year ago, at the local recycling community meeting, I was introduced to Shaklee cleaning products. Only 6 months ago, I bought the Get Clean starter line. I love it. I can’t believe the difference it has had in my life. It is a safe product. James loves to help clean the windows. He can help without being exposed to dangerous chemicals. It has a corn and coconut base and is environmentally friendly.

Once, I realized to properly discard my conventional cleaning products, I was going to need a hazardous waste pickup, I thought to myself. Hazardous waste??, at that point I decided that I needed to do what was best for my family and go as green as financially possible.

I am now an Independent Shaklee Distributor. Please check out my website to learn more about this amazing Shaklee product; http://www.shaklee.net/julie_taylor

I have done lots of research to understand how to help Brandon with his autism. There is lots of information out there. I truly believe that the true cause of autism is environmental. Stepping back and looking at the numbers; every 20 minutes a child is diagnosed with autism. The CDC says 1 in 150 children; 1 in 60 boys will be diagnosed with autism. In England, the rates are 1 in 50 children. The cause of autism must be determined sooner.

Brandon’s room is in the process of becoming more environmentally friendly. We are going to replace bed and bedding. It’s just one of the many steps we are taking to help him recover from autism.

We have been thrilled with the progress he is making at his school! He is talking more, understanding more. He is reading. Thursday, Brandon was sitting in his swing (one of his favorite activities) and independently & spontaneously said, “I’m Brandon!” - I’m confident that with continual ABA therapy, he will recover and we ARE SO THANKFUL.

June 6, 2009, we are participating in the 2009 Autism Speaks-Walk Now for Autism in Oklahoma City. This year, we have created a team,(Parents Taking Action Against Autism) with most of the parents from Brandon’s Easter Seals Autism Therapeutic Day School. All of our family, supporters and friends that would like to join, are most welcome.

Donations raised will be used in autism research, awareness & outreach.

Please consider donating to this most worthy cause;
